After Bhikhari Thakur’s death in 1971, his disciple Rammagya Ram carried forward the legacy of Bhikhari Thakur's folk musical tradition and heritage.

The 105 year old Ramagya Ram ji, the Nartak from whom Kalpana Patowary learned and in whom she found the Legacy of Bhikhari Thakur, it so happened that Ramagya Ramji himself wanted to visit Mumbai and expressed his wish to record some of Bhikhari Thakur’s songs as he felt time was passing by and he may not live long. Kalpana Patowary was touched by his urge and planned accordingly.
